3.       What type of technical support does HickoryTech provide?
If you are having trouble getting connected to the Internet, HickoryTech technical support will help you, as best we can, configure your system for access. HickoryTech Internet technical staff can help configure Windows 95/ 98/ 2000/ Vista, and Macintosh systems.

OS/2, Windows NT, Windows 3.1, or other operating systems may not be able to be immediately configured and may require the customer to use alternative Internet connection software.

Older machines or slow modems (14.4 or less) may not be able to connect reliably due to the higher memory and speed requirements of many new Internet access programs. Ultimately, it is the customers' responsibility to understand their computer system and its requirements for Internet access. Return to Top

8.       Is there any way I can set up my computer to notify me when I have an incoming call while I am on the internet?
Yes, you will need to have call waiting as a feature on the phone line, a V.92 modem capable of recognizing the call waiting signal, and software that will notify you of the incoming call. This software will often come with the modem but may need to be installed and/or configured to work properly. If appropriate software did not come with the modem, there is various types of software that are available from the Internet. HickoryTech Support, however, does not assist with setting up the modem or call waiting software.
