MANKATO, Minn., June 13, 2007 — HickoryTech (Nasdaq: HTCO) today announced the winner of the HickoryTech Phone Book cover contest. The photograph taken by Mankato, Minn. resident Charlie Berg will appear on the cover of the 2007-08 HickoryTech Phone Book. The scenic photograph featuring the Minnesota River was taken in the Mankato area.
“I was surprised, excited and honored for my photo to be chosen to appear on HickoryTech's Phone Book,” said Berg. “The photo was taken in the late afternoon light on a perfect spring day on the river.”
The annual HickoryTech Phone Book cover contest is open to all photographers, amateur and professional. Over 70 entries were received during this year's contest. HickoryTech's Phone Book is distributed to 30 communities in southern Minnesota with over 100,000 copies printed. In addition to the full-size Phone Book, a new smaller companion book featuring yellow pages will be distributed to residents and businesses. The HickoryTech Phone Books are available to customers at no charge and will be delivered by mid-July.
The company will offer Phone Book recycling bins in Mankato at the following HickoryTech locations: 221 East Hickory St. and 1650 Madison Ave. In addition, recycling bins will be available at Hy-Vee stores located in hilltop and downtown Mankato. HickoryTech will also host a recycling event at the Mankato MoonDogs baseball game on Thursday, June 28. All residents with community curbside recycling may recycle their directories through their regular curbside pick-up. As a reminder, it is the law to recycle all phone directories. Each year, HickoryTech recycles over 68 tons of phone directories.
The HickoryTech 2007-08 Phone Book cover will be displayed and presented to Berg on Monday, June 18 at 11 a.m. at HickoryTech's main office, located at 221 East Hickory St., Mankato, Minn.
