MANKATO, Minn. – Jan. 20, 2009 – HickoryTech (NASDAQ: HTCO) announced today that John Finke, president and chief executive officer, has been named Business Person of the Year 2009 by Connect Business Magazine.
Finke was named Business Person of the Year for his leadership abilities, business results, community involvement and character. The Connect Business Magazine Business Person of the Year is chosen by a team of Minnesota State University, Mankato College of Business professors working from reader nominations. Finke joined HickoryTech in 1996 as director of engineering. He became president of HickoryTech’s Telecom Sector in 1999 and became executive vice president in 2005 when he was promoted to chief operating officer. In 2006, Finke became president and chief executive officer of HickoryTech.
