Photo taken by Ireton resident April Boogerd VanRys to appear on HickoryTech Phone Book Cover

, Minn., April 20, 2009— HickoryTech (Nasdaq: HTCO) announced today the winner of the HickoryTech Phone Book cover contest in northwest Iowa. The photograph taken by April Boogerd VanRys of Ireton, Iowa will appear on the cover of the 2009-10 HickoryTech Phone Book. The photograph features a distinct red barn and was taken near Ireton, Iowa last fall.
The HickoryTech Phone Book cover contest is open to amateur and professional photographers. VanRys will receive a cash prize of $150 for her winning photograph, which was selected from a wide range of entries. HickoryTech’s Phone Book is distributed to more than 20 communities in northwest Iowa with more than 11,000 copies distributed across the region. HickoryTech Phone Books are available to customers at no charge with delivery scheduled in April.

A commemorative framed print of the HickoryTech 2009-10 Phone Book cover will be presented to VanRys along with the cash prize on Tuesday, April 21 at HickoryTech’s office, located at 1319 Main St in Rock Valley, Iowa.
