Phone Book Recycling Event to be held at Mankato MoonDogs Game on July 13
MANKATO, Minn., June 28, 2010— HickoryTech (Nasdaq: HTCO) today announced the winner of the HickoryTech Phone Book cover contest. The photograph taken by Jessica Lamm, a Mankato, Minn. resident and amateur photographer, will appear on the cover of the HickoryTech 2010-11 Phone Book. The scenic lake sunset photograph was taken on Sakatah Lake in Waterville, Minn.
More than 50 photographs were submitted for HickoryTech’s Phone Book cover contest, which is open to amateur and professional photographers. Lamm will receive a $250 cash prize and a framed cover print.
HickoryTech will collect out-dated phone books for recycling at the Mankato MoonDogs baseball game on Tuesday, July 13. The first 500 attendees to the game will receive a free HickoryTech MoonDog’s t-shirt.
HickoryTech also offers Phone Book recycling bins at its main office, located at 221 East Hickory St., Mankato, Minn. and at Mankato Hy-Vee store parking lots, located in hilltop and downtown Mankato.
HickoryTech’s Phone Book is distributed to more than 30 communities in southern Minnesota with a distribution of more than 100,000 copies. In addition to the full-size Phone Book, a smaller companion book featuring white and yellow pages will be distributed to residents and businesses. The HickoryTech Phone Books are available to customers at no charge with delivery scheduled in July.
As a reminder, residents with community curbside recycling may recycle their phone directories in their regular curbside pick-up. Minnesota law requires all phone directories to be recycled. Each year, HickoryTech recycles more than 70 tons of phone directories.
